Meeghan Triggs of Atelier Glass Studio in Lawrenceville created this fused glass backsplash for a client’s kitchen, part of an ongoing design process to bring the space to colorful life. Taking into consideration the black slate countertops and richly hued cabinets, “We really wanted something that would look like we put a piece of modern art right on the splash—very contemporary, fun, and colorful with a lot of movement, and not like anything that anyone had ever seen.” This particular piece is created with locally made glass from the Youghiogheny Glass Company in Connellsville, Pa. The separate pieces were then melted and united in a kiln for the swirling, fluid effect.
